Best Books enjoys PDI status, being a female black and youth owned company. Its core business is the supply of textbooks, stationery, library books and other educational material to schools, tertiary institutions and the general public.

Its founder Rajendra Rabbikissoon has vast experience with books and stationary having worked at different bookshops before opening his own business. The shareholding has recently been passed on to Kirthi Rabbikissoon who is learning all the aspects of book selling. She is, at the same time studying towards a degree via the University of South Africa.

The company is fully computerized and have 6 experienced staff ensuring that their clients receive outstanding service.

The recently acquired “Nielson Book Data” (renewed quarterly) provides a comprehensive database of new publications worldwide, providing an indispensable tool for the enterprise and its customers. The database and the internet make it possible for information on new material to be readily available.

In 2003 Best Books embarked on a project to supply adult basic education and training material to various centers throughout Kwa-Zulu Natal Province. Our core business remains the supply of educational material to libraries.

We expanded our business by opening a branch in Newcastle. This store focuses on supplying textbooks and stationary to the surrounding schools.

Social Responsibility

As previously disadvantaged individuals we are conscientised towards the social realities of the societies we service. To this end we will make every effort to assist students and educational institutions with their activities and programmes that are geared towards uplifting and improving the lives of previously disadvantaged individuals.

We are currently mentoring Miss T Satimburwa (A former Librarian), of Quartz Trading t/a FULLY BOOKED to acquire skills so that she can successfully run a book business. It is heartening to see that over the past two years the business has grown.

You may contact her on : 031 569 5901 or E-mail: t.satimburwa@yahoo.com.
